Knife

My father-in-law found a couple of knife blades at an old homestead near his house.

Step 1. Aneal the blade.

Aneal the Blade
Conceptualize the blad
I usually conceptualize the blade on paper. That was you can get a full understanding of what it is you are trying to make

More onceptualization

That tang is a little too much

That's a little better

Final Concept

Now that the knife is conceptualized and the hilt and the tang fit nicely it is time heat treat (harden) and then to braze the tang on with brass.

Tempering Steel makes it less brittle

It's best to do many at a time

It's that simple.

The sheath was molded to the knife by getting it wet and heating it up and shaping it with a tool

After some user testing the silly horn was taken off.

The blade came from an old saw blade

And the knife is now ready to be used. Personally tested and approved
